Stepping onto the floor of the Lansing Coin Show this past weekend felt like opening a time vault. As the owner of Pop's Change Exchange, I've spent countless hours under the microscope looking at die varieties, organizing inventory, and diving deep into U.S. numismatics. But experiencing my very first live coin show as a dealer? That is an entirely different level of excitement.
Highlights from the Floor
The energy in the room was electric from the moment the doors opened. I had the incredible privilege of meeting fellow coin dealers from right here in the local area as well as veterans of the trade who traveled from all across the country. Sharing insights, comparing notes on certified grading standards, and talking shop with people who share the same fascination for history was unforgettable.
Even better? I didn't have to go it alone. My grandson was able to attend the show with me, helping me spot interesting pieces and capturing a few great photos of us working the tables together. Passing down the appreciation for history to the next generation made the weekend truly special.
Connecting with the Community
Beyond the stunning inventory and rare dates on display, the true highlight was the people. I met seasoned collectors who knew down to the exact die pairing what they were looking for, as well as a few wonderful folks just starting out on their collecting journey. I've already made connections with several individuals I can't wait to speak with again soon as we track down missing pieces for our collections.
