Behind the Desk: New Buffalo Nickels and Mercury Dimes at Auction
A grateful look at today’s work at Pops Change Exchange, including 17 newly listed Buffalo nickels and Mercury dimes and a gentler way to help families understand inherited collections.
Today was one of those full, quiet days behind the desk at Pops Change Exchange. We spent it looking closely, checking details, matching photographs to the right coins, and preparing a new group for collectors to consider.
Seventeen coins are now at auction, eight Buffalo nickels and nine Mercury dimes. Each auction began at 99 cents and runs for five days. We are grateful to have the opportunity to place these coins in front of collectors, and we hope the photographs and individual pages make it comfortable to look before deciding whether to bid.

A more personal kind of work
Not every day at Pops is about offering coins for sale. Some days begin with a family holding a box, album, or old envelope of coins and not knowing where to start.
We have now opened our Estate and Family Coin Collection Curation service for people who would feel more comfortable reviewing a collection at home. The purpose is not to rush anyone toward a sale. It is to sit together, organize what is there, explain the information in plain language, and help the family consider what should be kept, shared, graded, offered, or simply remembered.
There is no upfront charge for the visit and evaluation. If the family chooses the complete curation service, the fee is 10% of the collection’s total value, with the arrangement explained before any decision is made. Family members may be present, or the conversation can be one on one. We will work at the pace that feels right.
Collections often carry far more than a market value. They may hold memories of a parent or grandparent, an unfinished collecting plan, or years of small choices that deserve to be understood before anything changes hands. We are humbled when a family asks us to help with that responsibility.

These coins are offered as raw, uncertified coins unless an individual listing clearly says otherwise. Please use the photographs and listing details to make your own collecting decision.
Do I have to sell an inherited collection after an in-home visit?
No. The visit is meant to help you understand the collection and your choices. Keeping family pieces, dividing them among relatives, seeking grading advice, selling selected coins, or doing nothing right away can all be reasonable decisions.
