The family reports that these coins were kept together in a cigar box in the garage from approximately 1973 until they were brought to Pops Change Exchange. The original owner was not a formal numismatist but intentionally saved older silver coins and early American cents rather than spending them. The family has chosen to remain anonymous, and the collection is publicly identified as the Idaho St. Savings.
