The 1909-S VDB remains the ultimate American numismatic icon. With a famously low mintage of just 484,000 pieces and the abrupt removal of designer Victor David Brenner’s initials shortly after production began, this key-date issue has captured the imagination of collectors for generations.

Observations: The coin displays strong, sharp details on Lincoln’s hair, the wheat stalks, and the reverse lettering. The designer's initials (V.D.B.) on the bottom reverse rim are clear and well-defined. There is a notable patch of undisturbed mint luster and golden-orange hues on the obverse right field/cheek area, blending into natural darker chocolate toning toward the edges, putting it squarely in the Red-Brown (RB) designation. Minor contact marks on the high points prevent a higher numeric mint state tier, keeping it in the lower-to-middle uncirculated range.
